Our family
Kenneth King and his wife, Judy, have been married over 30 years and have
three beautiful children. Ken is the third generation to live on the family
farm, located ten miles southeast of Hutchinson, Kansas along the Arkansas
river. Ken works primarily with the cattle, land, and dairy production.
Judy focuses on baking and gardening.
Their oldest, Kendra, married Mark Horst in 2008. Kendra
and Mark live in Yoder, Kansas where they manage the Sunflower Inn. Kendra coordinates the baking and assists with marketing.
Mark has a pottery studio on the farm. Visit his web site at www.markhorstpottery.com.
Daniel
bought a house near the farm and is primarily responsible for chickens, cheese, wine, and
the fruit and berry operation. In his spare time, he enjoys camping, backpacking,
and rock climbing and is a certified EMT and volunteer fire fighter.
In 2009, David, the youngest, married Haly Williamson. They currently live
in Goshen, Indiana. David manages JaKo's database and online operations and works for Goshen College in the IT department.
Haly is a substitute teacher and the assistant softball coach at Goshen College.
The King family invites you to visit the farm and share in the wonderful,
relaxed life that they enjoy!
Our business
JaKo, Inc. is a small family farm dedicated to producing the highest quality food possible. For years, the
American trend has been to buy food as cheaply as possible and
ignore the harmful health consequences. Conversely, we strive to raise the healthiest food
possible and sell it a price that is sustainable for us so that quality food is available to others.
Our name and logo
 JaKo, Inc. got its
name from the two individuals who started the corporation: Judith Ann and Kenneth Oliver King.
The JaKo, Inc. logo is comprised of many elements
describing the farm and family values. The blue jay plays on
the first syllable of the company name, combined with a symbol of
the poultry operation. The gear surrounding the blue jay
represents the mechanical manufacturing element of JaKo,
Inc. The less obvious white dove within the blue jay
represents the family's strong Christian faith and values, along
with a commitment to peace.
