Suggestions for spring party?
The last several years at our party we have had classes on cooking, gardening, bread making, etc. If you have suggestions or requests for this year we would be happy to hear about them. The spring party will be Memorial Day, May 31.
Cows With Names Give More Milk from Allan Nation
Catherine Douglas and Peter Rowlinson of Newcastle University in the United Kingdom have won a veterinary medicine prize for showing that giving dairy cows names and calling them by their correct name increased milk production yield by an average of 258 liters a year. The researchers said cows are very responsive to friendly milkers with a positive attitude.

Stories from the farm
This week has seen baby lambs popping out every day. As a way of keeping the predators from having lamb chops before we do, we have been penning the flock up at night in electrified netting. This is just part of life for us, but several nights this week we have had guests who think it is a real pleasure to watch the baby lambs run and play. Hopefully we will get our guard dog this next week. But sadly we will then loose the incentive to go and watch the lambs antics.
