Farm Fresh Weekly
Pottery studio operational Mark put the finishing touches on his studio this week and is up and running. Be sure and check it out when you come to the store. His new web site is www.markhorstpottery.com If you are needing a special piece or are looking for an unusual gift for personal or corporate needs talk to him. He can put your name or logo on any piece.
Apple cider vinegar We bottled vinegar this week and have it available in the sales room in either plastic or glass. It has a nice light taste and I think you will enjoy it.
Egg yolk color This week we had scrambled eggs for supper one evening. We noticed that the yolks were more pale than normal. We started thinking about it and realized that it takes 2-3 weeks for an egg to develop completely inside a chicken before it is laid. The last month it has been cold so that there is less green grass. Because of the cold, the chickens were staying in the house more, eating grain instead of out grazing. That solved our mystery. With warmer weather this week the chickens have been out lots more.
Stories from the farm Ken: Today Judy is celebrating a birthday. As a surprise to her I am asking all of you who know her to send a brief note of celebration and encouragement. Her email is judyk@shmcfamily.org. Thanks.
