Christmas and wedding celebrations
This past week we spent several days with family celebrating Christmas.  Included were extended family here to celebrate Kendra and Mark's wedding reception on December 27 in Kansas.  It has been a very delightful time.  On the 28th Kendra, Mark, Marks parents, Judy and I will head for Pennsylvania for a reception there along with more family gatherings.

A big thank you to Daniel for staying here to chore and help our customers.

Stories from the farm
Several weeks ago we talked about getting baby calves to put on the three cows that were still milking.  All is going well there except for a small glitch.  One of the cows (grandma) claims all the calves but doesn't have enough milk for them.  The other two are glad to let grandma do the feeding and not have calves on them, so about every other day we have to get them all in a small pen excluding grandma and let the calves nurse the other two.  Kind of aggravating but very reminiscent of society where some people would like to sit back and let others do all the work.

What Christmas is to me

I continue to feel blessed and overwhelmed by the love of Christ that I experience every day through family and friends.  Our family is growing with the addition of a son (Kendra's husband, Mark) and a future daughter (David's fiance, Haly).  We have extended family nearby that we relate to with gratitude and pleasure.  Our friends keep increasing with each new customer and acquaintance that we make.

So how does this relate to Christmas?  I often feel like I am laying in the manger being wrapped in love and support by people I know and even by ones I do not yet know.  What more could Christmas be about than for me to pass that feeling along by trying to be Christ like to you.

May you all feel Christ's love through me this coming year.   Ken

Kendra is married!!!
Yesterday afternoon Kendra and Mark Horst from Pennsylvania were married in a small, private ceremony of around 50 friends and family.  It was very simple, elegant, and non- traditional with alot of sharing and meaning.  I am a very proud Papa and welcome Mark with open arms.

If you want to send congratulations, their address is Mark and Kendra Horst,  Box 3000, Hesston, KS  67062 or email at
kendrawking@gmail.com.  They will be honeymooning in Hawaii for the next week and be home in time for Christmas.

Fresh milk all for the season
This week we stopped milking for the season.  What a relief today when the temperature is dropping and the low tonight is supposed to be 7 degrees with snow.  We do have plenty of frozen milk this winter for our customers and even a few new ones.  Thanks for your support.

Hospitality tray
Tomorrow through Christmas we will offer a hospitality tray in the cooler where the fresh milk used to be.  It will have samples of our products which will change periodically.  Please help yourselves and enjoy.

Stories from the farm
The first of October we had purchased 3 cows that were milking pretty good to provide us with more milk this fall.  That plan worked out very well so when we wanted to stop milking last Wednesday, we purchased four calves to do the milking for us and spent several days with the bonding process.  All is going well with that endeavor.  The hard part for me is seeing baby calves out on pasture this time of year, since my mind is accustomed to seeing them on spring grass.

Pennsylvania Conference
This past week Ken and Daniel went to a conference in Pennsylvania where Ken was one of the speakers.  On the way they stopped at several farms to get new ideas of things we can do here to improve our operation.  As I (David) write this, they're driving around Kansas City on their way home.  All reports indicate that it has been a good week for them.

Missy is Missing
Last week we were dog sitting for a friend.  The dog is named "Missy" and is Snowman's (Daniel's dog) litter-mate.  One evening Missy chewed through the rope she was tethered with and ran away.  We've been searching for her all week but so far we haven't found her.

Stories from the farm
On Friday, Mom and I went to Hesston to spend the evening with Kendra.  While we were gone the dry cows knocked their water tub over and, in search of water, broke a gate and got out.  When we got home at 10:30 there were five cows standing in the driveway waiting for us.  The rest of the cows had gotten bored with their freedom and had calmly returned to their pasture.  We know they were all around the house for quite a while because there are cow tracks and piles of manure all over the yard, road, driveway, and anywhere else a cow could feasibly get to.
