Farm Fresh Weekly

Sending Farm Fresh Weekly
We are trying out a new way to send this to you.  David has been working with another web tech to trouble shoot our problems.  He reported today that they are pretty sure that they have things straightened out, so we hope this new system works.

Beef fillets
Wow, what a hit!  After announcing them last week, we have almost been cleaned out.  There are a few left so come quickly if you want them.

Alternative Christmas foods
Looking for something different to serve at Christmas dinner? We recommend ham or leg of lamb. Both are very tasty and offer variety to the typical Christmas fare.

Christmas trees
One of our children's favorite Christmas memories is going out in the pasture to cut down a Christmas tree. Start a tradition with your family by coming out to the farm to get your tree. It is our Christmas present to you.

Mississippi conference
Thursday through Sunday, Judy and I will be at a conference on transitioning the farm to the next generation. We have some ideas but are always looking for more. We think it will be a really interesting conference. Daniel will be here taking care of the farm and store while we are gone.

Stories from the farm
Wow, what a surprise the weather has been this week! Monday and Tuesday boasted 75 degree weather, but when I got up on Thursday the thermometer read 10 degrees. Then Friday night, we had three inches of snow. I'm sure glad that the good Lord saw fit for us to calve in the spring when the weather is nicer. But wait---80 degrees in February, 20 degrees in April with 2 snows followed by 2 floods... I guess we live in Kansas but our wonderful Lord does take care of us.

Healthy food for healthy living.

Farm Fresh Weekly
Two copies
If this is the second Farm Fresh Weekly you are receiving please accept our apologies. When I sent it out last night about half of the copies were returned as spam. We think we have the problem fixed so are trying to send it out again. Thanks for your patience.
Beef fillets
Beef fillets are now available for Christmas! We normally save these fillets for our Cream of the Crop members since they are a premium
product, but the supply is growing so we are making them available to all. Locate fillets in a basket above the ground beef. They will be
available until Christmas or until they are sold out. Fillets are our favorite cut of beef-- they practically melt in your mouth.
Fighting for raw milk
Raw milk is under attack in California. The dairy industry is trying to control the sale of raw milk to tighten their monopoly. Several
ways to combat this are writing to our legislators (see article at
www.Mercola.com) and by joining forces with the Farm to Consumer Legal
Defense Fund
. I joined this organization this week and would encourage you to do so as well. We currently do not need their
counsel but want to show support to those that do.

Fresh milk
Towards the end of this week, we will stop milking for the winter season. We will try to have about a week's worth of fresh milk on
hand when we stop. However, frozen milk will be available. Frozen milk, when thawed, tastes almost identical to fresh milk.
Buying clubs over the holidays
Between Thanksgiving and Christmas we will deliver every two weeks. This means the next delivery will be December 5 with the one to follow
on Dec. 19. Hopefully this will make it easier on holiday baking and storage space.
Stories from the farm
This week, we give thanks for our many blessings. My thoughts turn toward our families-- both biological and adopted, such as our
customer family. The Lord has richly blessed us. We will spend Thanksgiving day hosting family, both local and out-of-state. May you
all take some time to give thanks as well.
If you would like to unsubscribe from Farm Fresh Weekly just reply to this email with "unsubscribe" in the subject line and we will take care of the rest.

Farm Fresh Weekly
Cookie dough is back!
By popular demand we are bringing back cookie dough. I hadn't realized the loyal support these wonderful cookies had garnered. Judy and Kendra have volunteered to take on the task of making these delicious morsels. If you haven't tried, them you are missing out on a very healthy snack!
Christmas hams available
We have a limited supply of Christmas hams available. These are uncured with no water or salt added. To prepare them, cook and season to taste. They are very delicious, so pick up yours while supplies last.
Winter pasture
Tomorrow we will be taking most of the cattle to a winter pasture we have rented in western Reno county. At that point, the only animals remaining on our farm will be the milking cows (we plan on milking through the end of November) and the laying hens. Our lives revolve around the seasons that God designed. The changing seasons keep us refreshed and invigorated, just like it does plants and animals.
Stories from the farm
Yesterday we helped a neighbor clean up his pasture from the floods last spring. There was a big group of us picking up sticks and debris and fixing fences. As the Chinese proverb says "many hands make light work."

Farm Fresh Weekly
Price increases
As with all retail food, periodically we must increase prices to cover our costs and run a profitable business. Our Cream of the Crop club members have encouraged us to do this so that we can continue to supply you with healthy food.
The following products had price increases effective November 1:
Frozen milk--$6/gal
Ground beef--$4/lb
Popcorn, eggs, beef liver, and brisket will increase as the inventory changes. Next spring fresh milk, cream and butter will increase.
Christmas trees
The farm that Daniel and I purchased (and where Daniel now lives) has a plot of Christmas trees planted on it. We have decided to make them available to you for a donation. They are all natural (un-pruned) and organic. They smell wonderful and have lots of character (they're not perfectly shaped trees like you would buy in the store). Let us know when you want one.
Stories from the farm
This past week Daniel and I had the opportunity to help build electric fence for a friend and neighbor who lost his wife. It was with joy that we got to help support this father with two small children. Please keep them in your prayers.
