Farm Fresh Weekly
Two copies of Farm Fresh Weekly
This week you should receive two copies of Farm Fresh Weekly. We have been having trouble with some people not receiving it and have been working on the problem. If you do not receive two copies please let us know and thank you for your cooperation. Note: This is the last week this will happen.
Last chicken butchering Monday
Monday will be the last butchering of the season. If you would like fresh chicken, come out between 1:00-5:00pm. We have plenty of frozen chicken to last our customers through the winter!
Tomatoes and peppers
One of our customers, Dave Roper, will begin supplying the sales room with garden produce beginning this week. He has told us that tomatoes and peppers will be available first, with more produce to follow. We'll try to keep you updated with the produce options in the sales room each week.
Stories from the farm
The last week has been fun grazing because we have had plenty of grass for the cows to eat. It makes the flood seem like a long time ago!

Two copies of Farm Fresh Weekly
This week you should receive two copies of Farm Fresh Weekly.  We have been having trouble with some people not receiving it and have been working on the problem.  If you do not receive two copies please let us know and thank you for your cooperation.

New cheese to try
This week we got another order of cheese.  It contained a new cheese called Meadow Creek Kaese, a cheddar that has quickly become our favorite.  Give it a try the next time you are out!

New season lamb available soon
Today we had a carry-in dinner at church.  We took some lamb steaks, put them in the crock pot with salt, pepper, garlic, and dry chicken bouillon, and it was a real hit! It's getting close to the time when we'll have new lamb in the freezer.  Place your orders for sides of lamb, as they are going fast!

Stories from the farm
This week we finished hauling sand out of the pastures that had washed in during the flood.  It's yet another thing we've done to put the flood behind us...

Butchering on Monday
Our next chicken butchering will take place on Monday.  If you want fresh chicken, come after 2:00 pm.  This is our second-to-last butchering... the last will take place in two weeks.

Beef jerky available
We have jerky now available in three flavors--regular, Cajon, and spicy!  It's quite flavorful, although we had to use a state-approved recipe, which contains sodium nitrite.  You can find the beef jerky on the shelves in the sales room.

Announcing our fall party date!
Put Saturday, October 20 on your calendar-- it's a date you won't want to forget!  It's the date for our annual customer fall party, complete with food and entertainment.  Last year you may remember the hayrack rides, bonfire, carry-in snacks, and the bluegrass band.  This year, we will feature a Buffalo Wing smorgasbord (our very own wings) and Tropical Shores, a local steel drum band.  Mark the date on your calendar!

Stories from the Farm
Last week, we told you about weaning calves.  Ken says this week has gone very well!  Daniel says that Ken's windows are shut with the A/C on, so he doesn't know about all the mooing that goes on all night long.  We'll let you be the judge of how it's going.

Pork running low
Due to customer preferences, we are not raising pork this year.  We still have some pork remaining from last season, but it is dwindling.  If you would like to stock up before we're completely out, do so as soon as possible.  If you would like a quantity (comparable to a side of pork), talk to us and we can give it to you at a boxed rate.

Update on the roads
We've had a lot of customers call and ask what our roads are like.  Here's the update:  our roads are very drive-able.  They're not as good as before, but they're being worked on.  Eales Road is still closed to the west of our farm, so you will need to come either from the north or east.

Stories from the farm
This week we are going to start weaning calves.  This process has mixed blessings-- we get a lot more milk, but for about a week it's pretty noisy around here with mamas and babies calling for each other.  The calves have been with their mothers since birth, and are at least three months old when we wean them onto really good grass.
