**Farm Fresh Weekly** Winter came
Last Saturday felt like winter and I thought we had missed the fall party, but Sunday was beautiful and calmed my fears; so make your plans to come to the Customer Appreciation Party on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 7:00 pm at the farm. The evening will include a bonfire, hayrack rides, an incredible bluegrass band, and healthy snacks! Put the date on the calendar and be thinking about a healthy snack you'd like to share! This past week Daniel has been experimenting with making jerky. He has tried several different recipes and smoking/drying techniques. I really like the spicy lamb but he likes the sweet beef. We will have samples available at the fall party. Planning for Thanksgiving
If you have been thinking about your Thanksgiving dinner and were dreaming of a ham or turkey -- get your order in soon! We have a few whole hams and just a couple of turkeys available. Stories from the farm
We've had requests for stories from the farm; so we'll occasionally include an interesting or funny story without making the newsletter too long. The first year we raised pigs, we only had two; so we named them "Scrumptious" and "Delicious." Saturday, November 4 at 7:00 pm is our annual fall party for customers at the farm. The evening will include a bonfire, hayrack rides, an incredible bluegrass band, and healthy snacks! This past week we received this year's new honey. Our supplier from Newton told us that due to the weather conditions, the honey is a bit darker this year. Well, when we put it into our containers and let it set for a day, it looked like chocolate syrup! So it is not a new "chocolate honey" ... just plain honey that tastes a lot like last years. Kids love it if they can get some before their parents eat it all. While in Indiana, we purchased Ladyfinger popcorn. It is very tender, small, and best of all it is hull less! It is not organic but the grower tries not to use chemicals. Some of you enjoyed this popcorn in the past and it's now available in the sales room for $2/lb! Fall, as it relates to lambs
As we wind down the season on growing lambs, their tasty cuts become available in the sales room. We again have ground lamb plus a new product -- lamb stew meat made from the leg. They both are tasty in stews, curry, stir fry, etc. Wichita buying club to hook up with

As we look across our farm to the river, it's very apparent that fall is a beautiful time of year. The summer grasses are all dormant now, and the cool season grasses are starting to grow. We're very thankful for our irrigation system, but the part of the farm that is not irrigated is very, very dry. Wichita buying club in full swing
To give you an idea of how a buying club can work, here's an update on how our Wichita buying club is doing. We have delivered product to Wichita every three weeks for several months. Each delivery is made to Dana Solomon's house, and everyone who has ordered product picks it up there. Last week, our delivery provided product for eleven customers in the area and included everything from milk to steak to cheese to chicken. Buying clubs are a great way to purchase product without the drive! If you're interested in joining a club, contact the persons listed below.
