Lambs to the butcher
We're taking lambs to the butcher next week.  Place your order now for whole or sides.  The total cost with processing will run $130-150 per side and weight will be about 30-35 lbs.

Help us to plan for beef orders
Beef has become the product that is hardest for us to meet demand because we have to plan two years in advance for each animal butchered.  Therefore, to help us plan for next year, if you are a current customer and place an order for a side of beef before December 1, 2006, we will give you a $0.10/lb discount on your order.  Orders will be available in the spring of 2007.

Extra bags, anyone?
We are running low on plastic shopping bags in the sales room.  If you have extra, we'd appreciate them!

New customers
We had six new customers this week!  Thanks for referring your friends and helping us grow!

Ham & eggs special
We're having a surplus of pullet eggs, so here's the deal:
--Buy half a ham, get five dozen pullet eggs free!
--Buy a whole ham, get 15 dozen pullet eggs free!
If you take advantage of this deal, still write it down on your sales ticket, but don't pay for the eggs.  Our surplus is your advantage!
(When chickens first begin to lay eggs, the eggs are much smaller.  These are called pullet eggs. )

Clarification on buying clubs
We've had lots of questions from customers about buying clubs and how they work.  What's a buying club?  Here is what it's all about:
--You organize a group of people from your area who all want to place an order
--The collective order must total $1,000 or greater
--We will deliver the order to your chosen location, where your group will meet to pick up their product
--We will deliver on a day that is convenient for both you and us, and will be available for an hour to dispense product and talk to customers
--The cost?  We will add a 10% charge to your order, plus $1 per mile one way for delivery (divided equally among customers).

We have four individuals who have agreed to coordinate buying clubs.  They are:

Bronze broke a leg
Last week, we had a cow named "Bronze" that broke her leg.  Needless to say, she's now in the cooler.  We will work her up into summer sausage and hamburger this week.

T-bone steaks available
Several weeks ago we made t-bone steaks available to "Cream of the Crop" members.  There are still some available in the chest freezer in the sales room.

Last chicken butchering
We butchered 500 chickens last Friday, our largest butchering to date.  It was a long and exhausting process, but it feels good to have all that food in the freezer!

Allan Nation's visit
Allan Nation, editor of the Stockman Grass Farmer magazine, spent time on our farm yesterday.  Allan gave us some tips on production and marketing.  In return, we gave him a quart of yogurt (and a spoon), which he really enjoyed.

Daniel out for the week
Daniel took the week off to go backpacking and rock climbing in Colorado with a friend.  He really enjoys the out-of-doors.  We're thankful to have a business that allows us to take time to relax when we need to.
